This modernist Catholic church was built in 1954 by architect Achille Dangleterre and engineer Gaston Zimmer. The main attraction of the Notre-Dame de Lourdes church is the glassworks of world-renowned stained-glass artist Gabriel Loire.

The imposing Notre Dame de Lourdes church displays very obvious European influences and stands in stark contrast to the many more traditional attractions that can be found in the city of Casablanca.

The Church of Our Lady of Lourdes in Morocco is not a very old building, having only been completed in 1956. The church's most notable exterior feature is a huge concrete "hood" that overhangs the church doors and is topped with a small crucifix attached to its highest point. This feature is one of the church's most remarkable architectural elements, but it is the breathtaking stained-glass windows that capture everyone's attention.

The Church of Our Lady of Lourdes is a great attraction that you can easily access and that allows for interesting photo opportunities and a great travel experience.

The open and airy interiors are illuminated by beams of colored light that filter through these stained glass windows and cover an entire wall - giving the window a surface area of over 800 square meters.

At first glance, you might wonder why there is a Catholic church in Morocco.

The fact is that there are approximately 20,000 Catholics living in the country, and this religious denomination has long been accepted in Morocco. The Church of Our Lady of Lourdes in Morocco is a clear testament to the strong presence of Roman Catholics in Casablanca, and while this religion is not the largest in the country, it is certainly not practiced by a small minority.
