VISIT TO EL JADIDA
Practices
"The coastal, seaside, port town of El Jadida (from its former name Mazagäo or Mazagan), is located about 100 km from Casablanca to which it is connected by excellent roads. Capital of the prosperous province of the same name, it is above all known from a tourist point of view for its remarkable "Portuguese city". Listed as a UNESCO heritage site, the fortifications of the Portuguese city with their bastions and ramparts were the setting for the filming of many scenes from the film "Othello" which Orson Welles shot largely in Morocco.
Strolling through the fortified city with its bastions, discover a pretty city with alleys lined with restaurants, cafes and shops, its Portuguese buildings still visible including the Portuguese cistern, the Mazagan fortress and the Church of the Assumption built in the Manueline style. Twinned with the city of Deauville, the new city of El Jadida is pleasant for walking and you can admire many buildings classified as material heritage? such as the Hotel de la Poste built in 1914 and the theater built in 1926 with colonial architecture among many others. Also visit the Beach Park, the Garden of Place Gallieni, Deauville beach. Take a trip to the souk, a stop at the central market and of course you must taste good fresh fish in one of the many restaurants in the city.
