Mohammed Square 5

This square, which today serves as the municipal administrative center, is lined with buildings from the 1920s, the majority of which are influenced by Spanish-Muslim architecture and Art Deco.

Its magnificent arcades and white facades with golden stones should be examined closely. The prefecture, which was inaugurated in 1930 by Mohammed V, the sultan at the time, is one of its most notable structures. It has a pretty tropical garden as well as works of art by French designer Louis Majorelle.

In 1976, he created a fountain that from time to time thrills tourists with amazing music and water shows. From a 50 meter high tower located near the prefecture, from where you can have a fantastic view of Casablanca. Today, its location has been vacated following the construction of the great theater of Casablanca. A new modern fountain has been built on the other side of Boulevard Hassan 2 right in front of the Civil First Instance Court.
