What better place than the Portuguese city of El Jadida to set up an art gallery? Located in one of the four rooms surrounding the Squala, the Chaïbia Talal gallery is a unique place that exudes an unreal, almost mystical feeling.
Under its historic vaults, the 200 m2 space, restored in 2000 and rehabilitated as an exhibition gallery, hosts the works of art which adorn the walls of the room in an almost sacred atmosphere.
The gallery is named in tribute to the famous Moroccan painter, a representative of the naive art movement, Chaïbia Talal. Talal began painting after hearing a voice in a dream urging her to pick up colors and paint.
Whether a legendary or true story, it is nonetheless highly symbolic and wonderfully illustrates the gallery's vocation: to honor the arts and exalt creativity and imagination in a space conducive to aesthetic meditation.
